How To Downgrade iPhone, iPod Touch And iPad From iOS 5.1 To iOS 5.0.1, iOS 4.3.3 or older. Right after Apple’s latest tablet came out of the dark, the new iOS with major software update, iOS 5.1, was available for millions to download on iTunes. A lot of new features are included in this iOS version of which are: the fixed camera button on the lock screen, Japanese language support for Siri, and most importantly some major bug fixes such as the battery drainage problem faced with iOS 5 we have all been hearing about.
Apple released iOS 5.1 update for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G, iPad 1, iPad 2, and iPad 3.
For those have already installed iOS 5.0.1 to their devices, Apple released an OTA update for you. However, those who have jailbroken devices will not be able to benefit from the OTA update.
Can I downgrade my device back to iOS 5.0.1 if I found out that iOS 5.1 doesn’t suit me?
Of course you can downgrade your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad from iOS 5.1 to iOS 5.0.1 or iOS 4.x.x. However, if your device has an A5 chip (like the one in the iPhone 4S and iPad2), then you will not be able to downgrade your device.
For those of you who have iOS 5.0.1 jailbroken, and are interested in keeping their device jailbroken, we do not advise you to update your operating system to iOS 5.! Up to this point, no jailbreaks are available for iOS 5.1.
If you are one of the lucky people who can downgrade your device whenever you feel like it (this means you have either an iPad 1, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G or iPod touch 4G) we can help you downgrade your device. All you need is non A5 iOS device that you want to downgrade, iTunes, saved SHSH blobs of the iOS version you want to downgrade our device to, the latest version of Redsn0w and IPSW restore file of the iOS firmware you want your device to be downgraded to
